The following are the standard “knoblander rules” that we use during the event.
Death Counts: Upon being killed (be it by spell or sword) instead of returning to a nirvana, you must instead fall to the ground where you were slain. At that time, you may begin your normal death count as if you were in Nirvana. At the conclusion of your five minutes, you are returned to life with a two-minute grace period during which, no one at all may attack you in any way, nor follow you should you leave the area, we call this “blinking”. You may however choose to ignore this grace period by shouting “ALIVE” and rejoining the game without the benefits of blinking. This is your choice. If you are going to blink, please state “blinking” about every five seconds so that other players are aware you are not ‘in-game’ at that moment.
Three-Handy Carry Rule: It may become necessary during the course of the game to carry a comrade or even an enemy away from the scene of action. To simulate carrying someone, we use the Three-Hand Carry Rule. To do this, you must have three open hands (not carrying any weapons, items, charged with abilities like touch of death, etc) placed on the body of the person you wish to carry. That person is then honor bound to rise and WALK at a slow pace to where ever those carrying him wish to go. If at any time, there are less than three open hands on the person being carried, they are required to fall to the ground as dead weight.
Item Tags: In-game items (weapons/armor/special items received in play) will have a special tag on it identifying it as being “in game”. In order for a weapon to be considered “in game” it MUST have one of these tags placed upon it.* When looting the corpse of another player or NPC, these are the items which you may loot (along with coins and other obviously in game items that do not require a tag). Tags may be purchased in town to replace missing or looted tags. These are paid for with “in game” cash, not real money, no matter what anyone on logistics may tell you (especially if they look hungry).
** Depending on what format is used, the tags may not be “ON” the item itself however, the person carrying said item must have a tag in their possession for any items they are using and claiming to have. There will be random checks throughout the event, those caught exaggerating life tokens, in-game item tokens or spells shall be disqualified from participating further for any army and may become the property of logistics.
Looting: To simulate looting of a dead corpse, be it player or NPC, it must be done in one of two ways: 1) One open hand (see definition above) upon corpse and state, “looting 1, looting 2, up to looting 20” or 2) with two open hands upon corpse and state, “looting 1, looting 2, up to looting 10”. Upon completing the ‘looting’ chant, the looter shall ask for one (and ONLY one) item – shield tag, weapon tag, armor tag, relic, in-game currency and other in-game items. Upon each death, a player may NEVER be looted of more than one item per death (in-game currency counts as one item and is ALL of your coinage). Should two persons team up to loot a corpse, it is between those two individuals to determine who gets the one looted item. Beware, while you are looting you are IN-GAME and may be killed!
Lives & Spell Lists: All players have only their normal number of lives during the entire weekend (i.e. a first level warrior has 5 lives which must last him/her all weekend). If you are shattered out of the game (all lives lost) you become the property of the logistics crew and must serve them as NPC’s. It is possible to re-join the game after being shattered, but only in limited ways. Spell lists must last for the entire weekend. Once per life and per game spells are spent, they are gone until either you’re next life (for per life spells) or you buy replacement scrolls in town. It is possible to buy more spells then you may normally cast if you have the (in-game) $$$. Casters, use your spells sparingly unless you can back up your supply with some serious cash!
Upon dying to another player, you are honor bound to give them one of your life tokens (which will be given at registration). Upon receiving life-tokens from another player you have killed, be advised that this DOES NOT increase the number of lives you have just because you have life tokens. The only life tokens that count toward you and how many lives you have, are the ones initially given to you by logistics at registration. These will be documented and anyone caught giving another a life-token not bearing the ‘dead’ persons name on it, should consider that person shattered and inform the nearest reeve.
No Monsters/Alternate Classes Allowed: Monster classes are not playable at Knoblander and this includes all Alternate Classes. Also, any spells which allow monsters into play, such as Transform, Mimic, Reanimate, etc are NOT allowed. Any monsters you may come in contact with are purely brought to you courtesy of the logistics team to mess with the teams and enhance the experience.
Earning Points for your Team: When you loot, kill, etc and obtain an item, currency or life tags from your opponents, please keep these safe because the more of these your army accumulates, the more will add to your point totals toward figuring the winning Army. More information will come at the Generals/Players meetings held at the event to explain how this will work and when and how these items shall be turned in.
